Christmas Crafts and the Time of Giving

was able to work on four major Christmas crafts over the past couple of weeks. I would have loved to accomplished more, but had way too much on my plate this year.

I mentioned the Hanging Christmas tree in my last post. It was the first of the four crafts I was able to finish.

Next I decided to work on a picture frame I picked up at a yard sale. After a little cleaning, paint, ornaments, and a bow she was all ready to hang on someone's wall.

I moved on to wine...wine bottles that is lol. I had collected several from friends a few years ago with the intent to make something or another, but never got around to them. So I stumbled upon the idea of snowmen, and went to work. I love spray paint it can transform anything into something else.

Running out of time, I decided to put an ornament wreath together. I loved the ornament tree on the pallet board, so I decided to do the same for the wreath. These were my favorite to make, so my plan is to do several more before next Christmas.

Once all the crafts were complete (at the last minute I should say...Christmas Eve). I had decided from the beginning I would give these crafts to very special people in my life, so the recipients were my own family. Smiles make all gifts worth while. It is better to give than receive, and the feeling it gives you is heartwarming.

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and I wish you all the best in the coming New Year!

One footstool at a time...

Many of you may recall when I recently repurposed a couple of dining chairs into a bench for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. When we took it to them, my brother-in-law asked if I would redo some cute little footstools he had picked up from his neighbors yard sale. Of course I said yes.
First I removed the top from the legs and began to remove the fabric.

The legs were a little loose and needed some extra glue to hold them in place.
They wanted the footstools to match the bench, so I lightly sanded and then painted the base black.

Then I replaced the foam and batting, securing it to the top.

Finally I added the fabric, attached it to the base, and voila!
Such a cutie if I do say so myself!

Frame By Frame

I'm headed to a family reunion this week, so I didn't have a lot of time to work on projects. I decided to do a quick redo on another one of the picture frames from my stash.
I found this picture at a yard sale, and though my husband liked the duck in the picture I decided I could put the frame to better use. So I removed the picture and lightly sanded the frame to make sure the spray paint would stick.
Next I spray painted the frame again in a shade of blue (if you can't tell...blue is my favorite color). It took a couple turns to get all the little nooks of the frame covered, but I love this blue!!

I spray painted the mat a light gray, but not sure how I feel about it yet...may repaint it white. Then I printed one on my favorite quotes on some map paper and here you have it! Just remember the meaning and enjoy each day.
Sorry to cut this one short, but I'm off to visit with family. Have a great weekend y'all!!!

Saturday Adventure

Saturday we loaded up really early and went looking for treasures! The sun was just peaking up when I was on my way to pick up Kelli.

This Saturday was the annual Hwy 25 Yard Sale. It stretches from North Carolina through Tennessee into Kentucky. We started in Newport, TN and traveled through the towns of White Pine, Morristown, Bean Station, Rogersville, and Tazewell.
We were a little disappointed that there weren't more people setup. But we still were able to find a few great treasures to bring home. The best stop was the White Pine Flea Market that is located on Highway 25E. There is truly something for everyone there. People sell tools, furniture, home decor items, clothes, farm animals and everything in between. We had a great time walking around there and found a few good buys but it was so HOT and we were glad when we finally made it back to the truck to get the air conditioner cranked up!
You can never go on an adventure without coming across something funny. While traveling through Rogersville, one stop had Elmo riding a John Deere Lawn Mower waving people in to their sale! So of course we had to pull in and check it out. I'm glad we did because I scored an awesome chair for ten bucks!
While it wasn't the most successful buying trip, we still got a few good bargains  that we will be able to use on future projects. Below is Kelli's haul for the day. Be looking for the chair I purchased in a future post as I start descontruction and refinishing process on it!
